Assistive technology

Since 2009, we have also been involved in international projects dealing with assistive technologies.

Assistive technology projects

From the most recent to the oldest

1 July 2009 – 31 December 2012

DOMEO

The aim of the DOMEO project was to develop and clinically test domestic robots that can primarily help elderly people living alone with signs of mild dementia. OORI was responsible for assessing user needs and then testing prototypes and individual subsystems and features, from laboratory tests to long-term field trials in the homes of potential end users.

1 April 2016 – 31 March 2017

iToilet

The aim of the iToilet project was to develop a toilet system that could make the use of toilets safer and easier for the elderly or people with reduced mobility. The system was based on a stand-up device that can be used to adjust the height and angle of the seat. This basic type has been supplemented within the project with info-communication modules such as user identification and application of individual settings, imbalance or fall detection and speech control.

1 September 2019 - 31 August 2022

SAVE

Using today's technical possibilities, the SAVE project aims to develop a system that helps older people living independent lives to carry out their daily activities and maintain their independence for as long as possible.
